One of the most essential areas of US budget reform needed is an overhaul of the mathematically unsustainable Medicare system. Obamacare approached this, but largely failed, unable to dent the entrenched interests of the many ‘for profit’ sectors directing Congress.     There’s another reason for high healthcare costs in the US. It’s illegal to import (medical) drugs from e.g. Canada & Mexico into the US. So, US drug companies can push the prices as high a they want and determine their own profit margin.

    To enforce these laws there exists a computer database that can be checked by the US border patrol and contains all the drug prescriptions from doctors in the US.
