May 2015 be full of creative courage

When I was struggling to get my first book on the page, I stumbled upon a book called “The Artists’ Way” that helped me quiet internal doubts long enough to get on with the work of being a writer.  Elizabeth Gilbert’s TED Talk offers similar encouragement.  Whatever it is you would like to accomplish this year, may the creative force move through you.

We must remember that no one gets a free pass. Creativity requires that we embrace vulnerability and dare failure. May the next year be full of that courage for all of us.

Elizabeth Gilbert (author of Eat, Pray, Love and other books) muses on the impossible things we expect from artists and geniuses — and shares the radical idea that, instead of the rare person “being” a genius, all of us “have” a genius. It’s a funny, personal and surprisingly moving talk. Here is a direct video link.
