Plastic-filled oceans no longer out of sight

In the old days, the milk and pop sellers picked up the empty glass bottles from the week before and reused them.  Today the companies who are selling their products in plastic containers must be responsible for funding the clean up and recycling program. They can then decide if it makes cost-effective sense for them to keep using plastic packaging or evolve to something smarter. But the clean up needed must go ahead either way. Fortunately we have the technology. Also fortunate is that the problem is now washing up on most of the major beaches of the world every day, which is making it harder for humans to ignore.

The Ocean Cleanup develops technologies to extract, prevent, and intercept plastic pollution. The Ocean Cleanup’s goal is to fuel the world’s fight against oceanic plastic pollution by initiating the largest cleanup in history. Here is a direct video link.
