Trump catalyst: thinking people moved to action at last?

The truth is that most of us have been pretty apathetic to date about our human activities degrading the natural world. Many of us may feel some concern, but our action has been pretty minimal in terms of altering our own behavior and consumption choices.

The Paris Climate Accord sounded promising, as if the world was working together to solve big problems, but in truth it has been a lot more talk than walk so far.  The good news is that the business/economic case for transitioning to much smarter, cleaner more efficient water, food and energy systems is so overwhelming today, that change is happening with or without national politicians.

Perhaps the positive effect of having Trump retract America’s commitment to the international climate accord, is that it has shocked more of us to consciousness and prompts thinking people to stand up and say “Hey, wait, I disagree, I’m not with stupid. I’m for technological improvements and human evolution. Count me in.”

We are all part of the problems here. If we are to help and be part of the solutions, then we must each act with individual responsibility, making changes in our own home, business and community now.

Environmental clean up, protection and management, is no doubt the most defining issue of our 7 billion+ species today. We are either helping or we are hindering.  It’s that simple. Time for each of us to demonstrate which side we are on.  Public figures and leaders of all kinds are also being called to stand up and be counted, one way or the other.

After President Trump decided to withdraw from the Paris Agreement, top executives like Apple’s Tim Cook and Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg expressed deep disappointment. Here is a direct video link.
