Worth watching: The Great Hack

I recommended Johnathan Taplin’s important book Move Fast and Break Things, here last May.  The documentary The Great Hack, now on Netlfix, is an essential follow-up in understanding how big data and AI are shaping human thinking and our politics.

They took your data. Then they took control. The Great Hack uncovers the dark world of data exploitation through the compelling personal journeys of players on different sides of the explosive Cambridge Analytica/Facebook data scandal.  Here is a direct video link.

Last week, the US Federal Trace Commission (FTC) announced that it had opened an antitrust investigation in June with regard to Facebook Inc buying up potential rivals before they could become a threat to the social media company.
