Canadians spend millions a day cleaning up depleted oil and gas wells

Polluters extract profits by socializing costs.  On a full cost accounting basis, oil and gas are not economically viable.  Time to face facts.

Regan Boychuk, founder of Reclaim Alberta and researcher for Alberta Liabilities Disclosure Project, talks about a new report that shows Canadians spent $4.3 million every day in 2020 to clean up Alberta’s oil and gas wells. The report included 13 recommendations to ensure the industry cleans up its own oil and gas wells before it’s too late. The suggestions include adding a public licensee registry for every well in Alberta so that cleanup costs can be traced back and equitably distributed amongst the companies that profited from it.  Here is a direct video link.
