Swapping diesel for sunshine and self-sufficiency

Fort Chipewyan is going solar! The small community of 1,000 indigenous people sits along the shores of Lake Athabasca in northern Alberta. ATCO is installing 600 kilowatts of solar in phase one and the community will own phase II, 2,200 kilowatts more solar when it’s all done. The Solar will displace 800,000 litres of diesel fuel. Here is a direct video link.
