Some facts that matter to start another zany week

S&P 500 price to revenue ratio charted here since 1986, much worse than the 2000 market bubble:  today at 2.45 versus historic average of 1. A retreat to just 1.3 would take stock prices down by 50%.  (See:  On Governance.)

“The problem our nation faces is a serious one. We have now paired a massive speculative bubble with            an errant pin that has every prospect of creating disruption. A steep financial retreat was already baked  in the cake prior to the election. Alternative facts and other lies

The most dangerous liars are the ones who convince themselves, and then others, that they are telling the truth. Very important discussion for all of us to keep having.

“Alternative facts,” proffered by Kellyanne Conway, is a “George Orwell phrase,” Washington Post reporter Karen Tumulty says. In college, “we will flunk you if you use alternative facts,” Frank Sesno says. Here is a direct video link.

Admitting objective facts critical for democracy

Debunking Trump on inauguration crowd sizes & voter fraud claims, Steve Schmidt invokes George Washington & George Orwell proclaiming the importance of truth in a democracy in just 90 seconds. Here is a direct video link.

There is a propensity of humans to see the world in a way that suits us best and then bootstrap our beliefs. Left unchecked this can become like a form of mental illness and do great harm. When allowed to pronounce such flawed beliefs as truth for others, madness can spread. Like weeding a garden, thinking people must resist and speak truth to power every day if we are to evolve and grow.
