Transportation evolution in process

Regulatory and technological obstacles may hold back the driverless car for decades. But one of the first driverless semi-trucks is already driving, legally, on the highways of Nevada. See: this is how a driverless truck works, direct video link.

Now imagine these vehicles battery driven and perpetually charged by momentum and solar power captured through the the roadway pavement as well as the body of the truck itself.  Safer, never having to gas up, zero emission, lowering freight costs by gazillions…

Or we can keep paying the price for old technologies…another day another devastating oil spill, this time off the coast of Santa Barbara. See: Devastating oil spill off coast of California.  The smart evolution of energy and transportation is in all our best interests.

Transforming our health with simple acts

My 52 year old brother told me last night that he had tried Yoga for the first time this week and found himself to be “pretty stiff”. It reminded me of the ability we all have to improve our health no matter what our age or physical condition.  The upside is so exciting.  Yes we can.  See, Two simple ideas that can change everything: yoga and juicing.

Here is a direct video link to one inspiring story that is always worth another look.

TED: how our microbes make us who we are

At our bonfire last weekend, the conversation turned to why mosquitoes were only biting some of us. Apparently it’s all in our microbes. The science is fascinating.

Rob Knight is a pioneer in studying human microbes, the community of tiny single-cell organisms living inside our bodies that have a huge — and largely unexplored — role in our health. “The three pounds of microbes that you carry around with you might be more important than every single gene you carry around in your genome,” he says. Find out why. Here is a direct video link.
