Economist Steve Keen on BBC Hardtalk

Steve Keen, one of the few economists to have predicted the global financial crisis, talks about the possibility of another Great Depression, his support for the “Occupy” movement and new ideas about how we can rebuild our systems and society. (Yes the woman doing the interview is annoying, and interrupts too much)

Mainstream starting to pick up on outrageous insider profits in Congress

Last night CNN’s Anderson Cooper did a segment building on the recent 60 Minutes peice on insider trading rampanent and tolerated in Washington insiders and lobbyists. Here is the clip.  The recent media attention has prompted some to re-propose a bill banning this get-rich-quick-scheme in Congress.  So far the bill is struggling for sponsors.  Every politician should be asked on the record whether they will support this bill.

One of the things that the “Occupy” movement has helped to bring forward is more attention and reflection on this type of extreme inequality and double standard between the elite circles and the rest of us.
