As Canada’s federal government flounders with more oil and gas subsidy schemes like carbon capture, others show what productivity and life-improving investments look like–those that cut waste and divert the savings to critical services like public education.  There is no more time to waste here; we can’t afford more of the status quo.

Past time to ban politicians (and central banks!) from front running

So outrageous and obviously queering of judgment and policy decisions.  A flagrant breach of public trust and office, and yet….rampant and unchecked.  Adults in the room need to ban and prosecute this activity without further delay.

Danielle on CBC Weekend Business Panel

CBC News Network’s weekend business panel discusses the new Federal budget, inflation and upcoming Bank of Canada actions. Here is a direct video link.

As mentioned in the CBC segment, Canada’s new federal budget announces that fossil fuel companies investing in carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS), will receive over $2.6 billion over the next 5 years and $1.5 billion annually until 2030.  In total this $5 billion in additional government subsidies for oil and gas companies is much larger than any investment in actual solutions that will help to reduce Canada’s GHG emissions.  Time to rewatch this educational video on CCUS (warning:  foul language alert!!).

The Australian Government has made an ad about Carbon Capture and Storage, and it’s surprisingly honest and informative. Here is a direct video link.
