So outrageous and obviously queering of judgment and policy decisions. A flagrant breach of public trust and office, and yet….rampant and unchecked. Adults in the room need to ban and prosecute this activity without further delay.
CBC News Network’s weekend business panel discusses the new Federal budget, inflation and upcoming Bank of Canada actions. Here is a direct video link.
As mentioned in the CBC segment, Canada’s new federal budget announces that fossil fuel companies investing in carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS), will receive over $2.6 billion over the next 5 years and $1.5 billion annually until 2030. In total this $5 billion in additional government subsidies for oil and gas companies is much larger than any investment in actual solutions that will help to reduce Canada’s GHG emissions. Time to rewatch this educational video on CCUS (warning: foul language alert!!).
The Australian Government has made an ad about Carbon Capture and Storage, and it’s surprisingly honest and informative. Here is a direct video link.

Independent and well-articulated, Eric is worth the listen.
On today’s episode of On The Margin, Mike Ippolito is joined by returning guest Eric Basmajian, founder of EPB Macro Research. After correctly identifying signs of decelerating growth months ahead of most, Eric comes back to the podcast to share how he forecast the economic slowdown.
As the yield curve inverts, GDP numbers begin downward revisions and investors deal with soaring prices across the whole commodity complex. Eric lays out the major warning signs that can help identify cyclical changes in the economy.
Referencing Edward E. Leamer’s paper “Housing IS the Business Cycle,” Eric also gives listeners a crash course on the connection between housing and economic growth. To hear more, tune in! Read Housing IS The Business Cycle.
