In this clip you mention picking up REITS. I would have thought the fundamentals of global collapse of commerce and the leverage inherent in the housing of commercial enterprises would be very strong downward forces in this sector. I would rather take the debt/default risk premium of ~10% corporate bond than the risk in this sector of significant capital loss as the value of Shopping Malls etc. tanks i.e take a bond risk rather than an equity/rental income risk for this sector. Your thoughts?
C, global fundamentals are bad alright. But the Cdn Reit prices have seen this storm coming for quite a while falling 63% from their peak. We bought because the price hit our technical thresholds. As I have acknowldged we have no way to know if recent lows will hold at this point. Hence the toe in and wait for further confirmation. If it breaks down again on our metrics we are out.
