Volume not comfirming the love

This chart of the semiconductor sector says a lot about the strange, strained, stock market we have seen the past couple of years.

I was once taught that the semiconductor stocks usually lead bull markets. I’m glad I forgot that rule. I’m sticking with the website administrators view that this is an accident-waiting-to-happen attitude.

BTW, I stopped in to our locally-owned greenhouse and in casual conversation I asked the owners wife how the Mid-Am Horticultural Show went this January. She said it ‘was terribly attended’ and won’t be going in the future. I remember the owner last year told me he breezed through in half the normal time. A lot less booths to visit, and many, many vendors having gone out of business or refusing to sign up and attend due to high expenses. Business is down at least 20-35% or more last year, and people are most certainly cutting back on visits/purchases at our local greenhouse. No more foo-foo money I suppose. And this is in a community where the average home costs $600,000.

There’s another sign the rally out of the October lows is (very) weak. While the S&P 500 rallied out of the october low the silver-gold ratio remained (more of less) flat. NOT a good sign !!! This is so like june, july and august 2011, where we saw EXACTLY the same (bearish) divergence/setup. So, when the S&P seemed to top out I went short a number of things and that paid off handsomely.
