Michael Lewis on “Noblesse oblige”

This is something that I was raised to believe and something my husband and I talk about frequently with our children: to whom much is given much is expected, or in the french, “noblesse oblige”. An antiquated concept in a self-determined society perhaps. But I think it is one we would do well to reinvigorate. Here is a direct link.

Watch Michael Lewis: I Aimed To Give Something Unexpected on PBS. See more from PBS NewsHour.

Here is a clip of Michael’s full speech in case you would like to hear it.  I find his life story and journey to being a writer refreshingly honest and encouraging to others.

That was so true. Luck plays a very big part in both success and failure. Every so often we should also define what success and failure actually is to us personally.
