Last summer my 14 year old daughter told me she wanted us to try yoga classes together. I have been a life long fitness buff, but I had not yet found my way to yoga. I now include yoga in my weekly fitness habits, and I will be a committed student for life.
Yesterday our neighbor came over to chat in the yard, and he was noticeably trimmer. He explained that he had watched the documentary Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead and had been juicing vegetables all winter moving to a largely vegetarian diet. He had lost 25 pounds in just 3 months and feels like a kid again.
Everywhere we look today people are struggling with the crippling effects of poor diet and dilapidated physical health. The only people who are benefiting from this are drug companies. Families, individuals, our national productivity and resilience–all are suffering the crippling costs of physical impairment and it is almost entirely preventable.
