Hat tip to John Hussman for this November 1929 Business Week quote to start another day in our own crazy market cycle.  At the time of this writing, markets were 2 weeks into a two year long 80% fall in stock prices, that would take 25 years to recover the October ’29 price peak.   Worth noting that today we are starting from much higher stock valuations and debt levels than in 1929.  Believe it or not.

Senator John McCain (R-AZ) took the Senate floor this afternoon to remind its members of their somber duty to upload the American Constitution and their critical role as checks and balances on the executive branch. Adult talk so little heard in the US political discourse since January.

Senator John McCain was greeted with applause when he entered the Senate chamber today to cast one of the final votes to approve the procedural motions for the new health care bill. McCain took a trip back home to Arizona recently, so that he could focus on his battle with brain cancer. McCain flew back to Washington D.C. to vote for a repeal of the Affordable Care Act, and he cast the vote that tied the motion at 50-50. The motion cleared the Senate after Vice President Mike Pence cast a tiebreaker vote while he presided over the floor.  Here is a direct video link.
