The bees knees

Albert Einstein is quoted as saying that: “If the bee disappears from the surface of the earth, man would have no more than four years to live. No more bees, no more pollination … no more men!” Gary Shilling is one of my favorite economists and financial authors and I have always been intrigued by his apiaries so I enjoyed this clip.

“Gary Shilling has an unusual hobby: he’s a beekeeper. And for years, the legendary economist has been sharing his homemade honey with clients and close friends.

Harvesting and selling honey is a notoriously money-losing business. As he explains, apiaries make their money by providing pollination services to the agriculture industry.

Shilling neither offers pollination services nor sells his honey.

Business Insider recently spent a day with Shilling at his New Jersey home…or apiary…where he showed us what bees and honey are all about.” Here is a direct link.

We could learn so much from bees. They work hard and work for their society as a whole.

The wording on the honey bottle is terrific

“While the federal deficits mount our bees’ honey surplus grows”

    My brother is a beekeeper.

Once he was bringing his hives down from central BC to the coast during April when the temperature turned unusually warm in the Fraser Canyon. Everywhere he stopped for gas his ” loaded” pickup truck filled the air with agitated bees which got every attendant anxious to get rid of him.

Linda Moulton Howe regularly follows the subject ‘bee’s’ on her Earthfiles website.

She is an investigative journalist par excellance. Check out and look up beecolonycollapse disorder.
