Investors interested in keeping their finger on the pulse of the American economy should note that while roughly two-thirds of companies have successfully gamed beat their lowered earnings expectations for the second quarter, the revenue data is much bleaker: just 41% have posted revenue above analyst expectations, which is well below normal levels and reminiscent of past recessions.
